An opportunity exists within the Research Support Office for a Research Support Advisor to join the CAHSS team. Research Support Advisors play a key role in developing and supporting grant-funded research activity. As a member of a team, the postholder will work closely with a number of Schools in the College, as well as lead on or be involved in College-wide activity to ensure that cross-College opportunities are optimized. RSAs provide a range of services, including horizon scanning for new research opportunities, identifying funding opportunities, providing advice and guidance on grant-writing and quality assurance, advising on funders’ terms and conditions, ensuring applications are appropriately costed, submitting applications to deadlines, and assisting with the negotiation of contractual terms.
This is a challenging role, RSAs must balance desk based deadline driven activity with event delivery and client and funder engagement activities. They must be excellent writers, (blog, reports, emails) who also have strong numerical skills and attention to detail. RSAs must demonstrate a can-do attitude, exercising initiative and judgement in solving problems. They must demonstrate confidence in resolving client queries independently and be comfortable leading events and meetings.
