The College of Arts Humanities and Social Science (CAHSS) team within the Research Support Office is looking for an experienced research development professional. The individual must be able to understand the wider research environment and the drivers of research strategy and investment for Arts, Humanities and Social Science disciplines. He/She must be able to interpret them and align them to the University of Edinburgh’s interests and pro-actively identify activities that will support the College’s research funding culture.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in the HEI sector, have a proven track record of project planning and delivery. Will be able to represent the College and the University at external meetings and present their experience at events and in writing (reports, blogs, and social media). They will be able to identify funding sources and align them to appropriate academic areas, finding ways of supporting the academic community in their response. They will also have a good understanding of the principles and demands of interdisciplinary and international research and demonstrate expertise in facilitating the complex dialogues that can surround this, often with very senior academics. He/She will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, but this will be based on their ability to successfully deliver a wide ranging and demanding workload in the research development domain and the expectation of accountability.
