Galloway Forest District is located in South West Scotland, employing nearly 100 staff and managing approximately 116,000 hectares (450 square miles) of the National Forest Estate. The District is a centre for nature conservation and public recreation with over a quarter of the landholding being managed with conservation and public access as key priorities.
The key responsibilities for the role will include:
- Preparing a minimum of three Land Management Plan renewals per year using the organisation’s guidance.
- Carry out site visits to assess site conditions and undertake consultation with relevant external stakeholders including members of the public.
- Liaise with and submit plans and amendments to South Scotland Conservancy and answer any queries raised during this process to achieve plan approval.
- To support and assist Galloway Forest District Planning and Environment team on general renewables and other infrastructure projects within the district.
