You should have the ability to undertake work in an outside environment, display an approachable and helpful manner/attitude and be able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
Previous experience of working in grounds maintenance and knowledge of health and safety requirements within grounds maintenance would be advantageous.
It would be advantageous if you had experience of land management operations and have a working knowledge of industrial grass cutting equipment in particular pedestrian and ride on mower.
You should be able to adapt to differing working techniques and possess a full driving licence.
Essential : Driving Licence, which includes the operation of trailers
Desirable : SVQ level 2 in horticulture, greenkeeping or similar
Experience of working in a horticultural/greenkeeping environment
Chainsaw Certificate, Stone cutter Certificate
Certificate of competence to operate ride on grass cutting machinery
Certificate of competence in hand held applicator PA1 & PA6.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on you working 39 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £19,353.03 per annum.
