Are you up for the challenge of helping us to manage and maintain the infrastructure and open space that contributes to the unique place that is Aberdeenshire?
As one of three Roads and Landscape Managers you will be collectively responsible for the looking after over 5,400kms of roads and 3,000 hectares of open space in one of the most beautiful and diverse areas of Scotland. Within that network there are over 43,000 street lights, 430 Play areas, 4 Country Park, and an Arboretum and Plant Nursery. All this spread across 6,313Km2, spanning from sea level to and elevation over 1,100m, including the highest road in Scotland, the A93.
Along with the 2 other Roads and Landscape Managers, you will jointly lead a team of around 90 technical/professional colleagues and almost 400 more that are front line operational.
You will be responsible for two of Aberdeenshire's six political Areas focused in the south and west of Aberdeenshire. This area includes the rugged Kincardine coastline as well as historic Donside and Royal Deeside. As well as spectacular countryside the area also includes vital strategic roads linking rural Aberdeenshire to Aberdeen City and beyond.
You will also be part of the Roads, Landscape Service and Waste Management Service Management Team, responsible for setting the strategic direction of the service in support of the Infrastructure Services Service Plan, the wider Council priorities, and the Single Outcome Agreement.
You will play a key role in delivering all this against a backdrop of financial austerity and rising public expectations.
