Work Pattern: Post 1 - Permanent, 9 hours (term time) Monday 17.45 - 22.15 & Thursday 17.45 - 22.15 Post 2 - Permanent 5 hours (term time) Saturday 8.30 - 13.30

We are currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Janitor. Although based at one principal location, the post holder may be required to undertake duties at other Community Use facilities.

The post holder will be expected to be able to work independently and use their initiative to respond to problems.

The janitor is a key holder responsible for the security, safety and cleanliness of the building both indoor and outdoors. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible and willing to use initiative to deal with matters as they arise.

A high level of customer care will be required as the janitor will be working alongside groups and clubs hiring the facilities.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.

Requirements

PVG is required for this post.

To cope with the physicality of the post, a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.

Willingness to work early morning or late night shifts is essential.

The ability to work under minimal supervision and to use initiative is essential

A friendly and approachable manner is of importance when dealing with members of the public.

Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH / Risk Assessment would be beneficial

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the safety and security of the building and outdoor facilities.

They will be responsible for opening and closing of facilities at pre-arranged times, for the building and dismantling of equipment and for setting up of facilities as required.

They will be responsible for operating all security systems – school alarms, fire alarm

They will work alongside customers to provide a safe, suitable environment for all activities.

They will be responsible for reporting any repairs required.
