Facility Services within the Resources Directorate of Midlothian Council operate a building cleaning service within Council premises, Primary and Secondary Schools across Midlothian.
We have a permanent part-time vacancy for a senior cleaner based within Strathesk Primary School in Penicuik.
You will be expected to provide support in the Facility Services provision in a school environment by ensuring that the cleaning standards are maintained to a high standard, building security opening and closing of building.
You will also order cleaning materials, report machine repairs and work as part of a team to ensure the premises are cleaned.
You should have a sound knowledge of the building cleaning industry and have attained the B.I.C.S stage 1 proficiency certificate. You should ensure that all tasks and duties undertaken comply with all Health and Safety legislation, Council Policies, COSHH legislation, Operational Procedures and the implementation of the Service Specification.
Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred but not essential. Basic reading is a requirement of the job to enable the Jobholder to read the instructions regarding the handling of chemicals.
Must have completed The British Institute of Cleaning Services, Cleaning Operators Proficiency Certificate, Stage 1.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on you working 21 hours over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £8,947.35 per annum.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
