An opportunity exists for a highly motivated person to be part of the successful commercial team. The successful candidate will hold relevant qualification certificates in food law enforcement. The job involves planning and completing an allocated workload whilst working under minimal supervision. Recording work on the service' computer system APP is essential. You will be aware of personal safety issues related to the post and work with appropriate caution.

The key duties of this post are:

The post holder will work in the specialist function of food safety and act in conjunction with staff. To carry out inspection of relevant premises, investigate complaints and carry out specific technical duties as directed in order to meet team plans, objectives and targets. To participate in the educational role of the environmental health service as appropriate. To maintain paper and computer based records, prepare reports and undertake appropriate surveys and research. To undertake further study in appropriate technical subjects related to the duties of the post and service delivery requirements. To assist in meeting the objectives and targets of the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service Unit. To participate, as required, in the provision of a wide range of environmental health functions and to work along with Environmental Health staff in the provision of services. To undertake any other appropriate duties as required by the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Manager.

 The skills and experience you must have are:

Scottish Food Safety Officers Registration Board, Higher Certificate in food premises inspections, or equivalent. Scottish Food Safety Officers Registration Board, Higher Certificate in food standards inspections, or equivalent. Sound knowledge and understanding of food safety issues. Experience of dealing with a wide cross section of people, with particular reference to dealing with members of the public and businesses. Experience of handling complaints. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Administrative skills with regards to record keeping; report writing and; analysis of issues. Ability to build good relationships with colleagues and customers. Ability to handle conflict. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to deal positively with change. Ability to take personal responsibility and make decisions. Ability to work under minimal supervision and self motivate.
