You have or are working towards a degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent, are eligible for membership of the RTPI and hold a current valid driving licence. You will be responsible for processing a wide range of planning and other applications and have the ability to negotiate with applicants, agents and consultees. As well as having good communication skills to prepare and present reports, you also have the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Consideration may also be given to a candidate who holds a degree or equivalent qualification and would be eligible to study for a post graduate RTPI accredited course in Planning.

This post is part of a career grade scheme and salary placement will be in accordance with the scheme.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation

The successful applicant will work as part of a team providing a Development Management service to the Area. 

Undertake all aspects of Development Management workload in accordance with relevant legislation Prepare reports for Council Committees, Director, Head of Service, Planning & Building Standards, Planning Manager and Team Managers To liaise with other services of the Council and external organisations in connection with development management matters and negotiate solutions with developers Provide written or oral information and advice on planning matters to the public, Members and developers, including presentation to council committees Contribute to the enhancement of development management and planning activities To determine planning applications in accordance with relevant planning policies and guidance To support the delivery of the Council's continuous improvement strategy
