We are hoping this year’s boating season will be busier than ever, so we are planning ahead and starting our search for seasonal staff to work along the Caledonian Canal, one of Scotland’s most beautiful tourist attractions! We have roles in the Inverness area with contracts beginning in March and finish in November 2017, giving you the opportunity to work for the full season in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. We also have an opportunity for one longer term contract in this area, details of which will be discussed at interview.

Customer service is key regardless of whether our visitors travel by boat, bike or boot; so we are looking for confident communicators who enjoy meeting and helping the public. You will advise visiting tourists and boaters about the locality and assist craft through the locks. As well as this, you will take responsibility for the surrounding area including grass cutting, litter picking and some minor DIY and maintenance such as painting and weeding.

You must demonstrate initiative as well as the ability to work both in a small team and independantly. Health and Safety is our number one priority, and we will give you all the training you will need to carry out the role safely and efficiently.

You will work on a rota which includes weekends and bank holidays. You will work an average of 45 hours per week throughout the season and we are willing to consider job share opportunities also. There’s no doubt it can be a demanding job, particularly during the peak summer season, but there are never two days the same and you’ll be part of an efficient and welcoming team.

Basic DIY skills would be advantageous as would a knowledge of boating. Proven experience of working with customers in any environment is required as is a driving license and access to your own transport.
