Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Early Years Practitioner, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities will include:
Contribute to planning and implementation of a curricular programme which meets the needs of the individual child in line with National and Local standards for children in the age range of 3 years to 5 years.
Observe and interact with children in order to support their learning and record and report on individual children's progress in line with Care Commission standards
Collaborate and participate in partnership and outreach work with others involved in children's learning and development (e.g. parents, carers, teaching staff, health visitors) at all times maintaining confidentiality
Contribute to the assessment and reporting of childrens' achievement and progress
Participate in all aspects of reporting including the recording of accidents/incidents and follow the appropriate process for issue of accident reports to parents/carers
Contribute to the delivery of the Early Level curriculum in line with pre-determined policy and procedure
Participate in all aspects of team-work within the Setting, including preparation and care of resources, maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene and contributing to staff discussions
Keep abreast of early years initiatives and developments and participate in continuing professional development where appropriate
Flexible approach to working practices including domestic tasks e.g. preparation of snacks, cleansing of equipment etc.
Follow the correct process to ensure that children are collected from the Setting by an authorised parent/carer
Develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key worker
Respect the high profile of the Setting and uphold its standards at all times
Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring Setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.
Specific Child Care Tasks:
Preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development
Undertake an active role in all aspects of care which meet the needs of the individual child, including where necessary assisting children with cleansing and change of clothing and providing appropriate comfort and care in times of illness or distress
Ensure that mealtimes are pleasant and sociable for the children
To ensure the Setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
Qualifications & Training
SVQ/NVQ Level 2 (Early Education) or equivalent
SVQ/NVQ Level 3 Childcare, or working towards this, or equivalent, qualification
An understanding of the Foundation Stage Curriculum
Interest in the care, learning and development of young children
Food Handling / Hygiene qualification
First Aid qualification
An understanding of the Early Learning Goals
Knowledge of the National Standards for the regulation of Childcare provision
