Temporary full time maternity cover until 30 June 2017

This post is based in the Nursery Class.

Sanderson's Wynd Primary School currently has 14 classes, P1 – P7 and The Hub, East Lothian Council provision for pupils with severe and complex needs. The school has a 60:60 place nursery which supports 6 pupils with severe and complex needs. Currently 4 children in their pre-school year and 4 ante pre-school children attend. There is also provision for up to 3 children aged 2 years. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a totally inclusive environment. The post is in our nursery department, which is a very well resourced facility with different areas for pupil to develop a range of skills and flourish in a nurturing happy and safe environment.

An After School Club, Wraparound Care, Home Start and a community wing are on site.

Job Details

Subject to the policies of the school and the Council, the duties of Principal Teachers are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct. These should give reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to:

Curricular development and quality assurance.
Contribute to the development of school policy in relation to the behaviour management of pupils.
The management and guidance of colleagues. Review the CPD needs, career development and performance of colleagues.
Provision of advice, support and guidance to colleagues.
Responsible for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of pastoral care within the school.
Assist in the management, deployment and development of pastoral care staff.
Implement whole school policies dealing with guidance issues, pastoral care, assessment and pupil welfare.
Working in partnership with colleagues, parents and other specialist agencies as appropriate.
Working alongside class teachers to share best practice and take forward the Improvement Plan priorities.
Participate in the overall administration of the school.
Assist in aspects of the School Improvement Plan

Relevant Qualifications
Full GTCS Registration is required.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
