Head Teacher, St Nicholas RC Primary School, 35 hours per week, Closing Date 29th January 2017
St Nicholas Primary School is a Roman Catholic School working in partnership with St Margaret's Academy School cluster. It serves the communities of Broxburn, Uphall, Uphall Station and Dechmont. The school was built in 1976 and consists of:nursery provision for pupils aged three and four years – 50 children attending morning sessions and 50 attending afternoon sessions 15 classes from primary 1 through to primary 7.
The school roll has experienced significant growth in recent years and a recent, new extension was built in 2015/16, adding an additional two classrooms and a games hall. This session, the total school roll comprises of 375 pupils in P1-P7 with an additional nursery roll of 27 morning, 29 afternoon and 27 full day pupils. There are 18 members of teaching staff, one support for learning teacher and a team of 6 pupil support workers who also work directly with the children. There are also 2 PE specialists and a music specialist working part time in the school. The management team consists of the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and 2 Principal Teachers. The school shares a business support manager with schools in the St Margaret's Academy cluster.
St Nicholas Primary school comprises of large and spacious teaching areas each benefiting from a large general purpose open area. The school is a bright, well maintained and happy learning environment. The school has extensive playing fields and good play areas and surfaces. Teachers and pupils benefit from a wide variety of resources including a wide range of up to date ICT equipment which is used effectively to enhance learning.
