Niddrie Mill Primary is a non-denominational school situated in the greater Craigmillar area of Edinburgh, an area of multiple deprivation and of current regeneration. The school receives additional positive action funding and is one of the 8 Edinburgh Attainment Challenge schools. The school is part of a shared campus with St Francis Primary School and Moffat Early Years.
The current roll is 273 arranged in 13 classes for 2016/17. The staff consists of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, Principal Teacher, Business Manager, Class Teachers, Behaviour Support teacher and 1.7 Support for Learning teachers. This session the school has appointed a temporary Principal Teacher and temporary Class Teacher to support our work with the Scottish Government Attainment Challenge. In addition there is a specialist teacher for art and drama to facilitate RCCT for teaching staff and also a specialist brass teacher. The support staff includes school administrator, school support assistant, 3 part time service support officers, 11.5 PSA/EYP's including a PSA and EYP who staff our nurture base. The school also has place2be service for pupils and their families.
The building is spacious with a number of flexible spaces to support class, group and individual learning. In addition to the 13 classes there are small break out rooms, a library, nurture base, retreat, meeting room, dining hall and gym hall.
The school has strong links with its cluster primaries and associated secondary; Castlebrae High School. A robust cluster transition programme is in place across a range of subject areas to support the pupils. Children take part in a range of sporting events led by active schools coaches, staff and parents.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
