Head Teacher, Uphall Primary School, 35 hours per week, Closing Date 29th January 2017

Uphall Primary School is a non-denominational school set within the village of Uphall. It serves the residents of Uphall and Ecclesmachan.

At Uphall Primary children, staff and parents work actively and in partnership to enable all children to achieve their full potential. We provide a welcoming, safe, happy environment where everyone is respected and listened to; a school where we enable children to become confident, independent and successful learners. We are committed to working together with parents and partners to build community locally and beyond, and to develop responsible citizens who make valuable contributions to society.

The school roll is 318 in the primary which is split into 13 classes. The nursery has 50 places in the morning and 40 places in the afternoon. There is a teaching staff of 20 including the HT, DHT and PT posts within the school. The school has a committed team of support staff who work collaboratively with teaching staff for the benefit of all pupils.

The school building provides a bright and flexible work space for both children and staff. The building is of traditional design and has accommodation for classes, the nursery class, a nurture class and a learning support & music base. Recent work to the roof and interior areas have improved the quality of learning environment. The school also has sizeable playgrounds, a hall, stage/dining area, a general purpose (GP) room/library, kitchen facility, medical room, resource room and a meeting room. One secluded garden area, with log seating, is available and we continue to develop outdoor learning. Other areas within the school grounds have and will continue to be improved to increase opportunities for outdoor play, gardening and active learning.
