Position: Teacher in Deaf Education
Location: Hamilton School for the Deaf, Anderson Street, HamiltonML3 0QL
Fixed term covering maternity leave until 12/03/2018
BSL level 2 is essential and the ability to deliver the curriculum in sign language.
The applicants must have full GTCS registration but this can be primary or secondary. The applicant must be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf, in training or have a significant amount of experience teaching deaf children.
Hamilton School for the Deaf as well as being a school for deaf children delivers and outreach service to children with a hearing loss who attend mainstream schools throughout South Lanarkshire Council. The successful applicant may be required at times to support children in an outreach basis, and the successful applicant will have the ability to travel throughout South Lanarkshire Council.Requirements
Foreign Police Check
Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council Council.
