35 hrs per week, salary pro rata, 47 weeks per year- Fixed Term until 30 June 2017

The key duties of this post are:

To teach pupils to play all String instruments (violin, viola, cello & double bass), develop their musical literacy, aural awareness and interest in music making

.The skills and experience you must have are:

Nationally recognised advanced music qualification Knowledge and understanding of the current curriculum Advanced level string playing, conducting and rehearsing skills Thorough knowledge of teaching all string instruments (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and an ability to teach all to a minimum Grade 5 Associated Board standard Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to work flexibly Ability to teach and inspire young players Good organisational skills Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents Ability to deliver well prepared lessons taking into account the needs of the learner Excellent communicator Able to work effectively with other staff

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
