14 hrs (0.4)per week, salary pro rata, 47 weeks per year- Fixed Term until 30 June 2017
The key duties of this post are:
You will teach guitar in 2 secondary schools in West Lothian. Duties will include teaching pupils to play all styles of guitar playing, develop their musical literacy, aural awareness and interest in music making. Lessons are taught in groups and there is an expectation of extracurricular work being undertaken, some of which may be in the evening.
The skills and experience you must have are:
Nationally recognised advanced music qualification
Advanced level guitar playing, conducting and rehearsing skills
Thorough knowledge of all styles of guitar playing and an ability to teach all to at least Grade 5 Associated Board standard
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to work flexibly
Ability to teach and inspire young players
Good organisational skills
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
Ability to deliver well prepared lessons taking into account the needs of the learner
Knowledge and understanding of the curriculum
Confidence and charisma
Able to work effectively with other staff
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
