Teaching and Learning Enhancement (TLE)

Fixed term, 36.5 hours per week
£21,220 - £24,565 Grade 5

The Teaching and Learning Enhancement Service is at the heart of supporting the enhancement of teaching, learning and the student experience at Abertay. There are three main strands to the work of the TLE team: academic professional development, technology enhanced learning and quality enhancement. Examples of services which TLE provides include: co-ordination of a staff CPD scheme “Going for Gold” which includes a taught PG Certificate in HE Teaching and leads to national professional recognition through the Higher Education Academy (HEA); monthly seminars for sharing good practice, information and consultation on implementation of key initiatives/strategies and workshops incorporating technology enhanced learning in staff teaching and assessment practices; funding for teaching innovation through the Abertay Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (ATLEF); support and guidance to academic staff on a range of enhancement issues including technology enhanced learning, academic quality matters, student engagement, evaluation etc.
The University now seeks to appoint a Learning Enhancement Co-ordinator.
Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning Enhancement the successful candidate will:
Work with academic staff to pilot new learning technologies which have the potential to enhance student learning and engagement Develop text and multimedia-based resources on learning technologies for staff Work with other TELS team members to resolve operational problems and enquiries escalated to the team, ensuring any issues are properly investigated and resolved. Assist with the evaluation of the TLE strategy and undertake further research etc, as required Support the improvement of Abertay’s internal student surveys systems and analyses including working with staff and student representatives to enhance response rates and close the feedback loop to students. Build relationships and work with key contacts across professional services, academic schools and external organisations to support and promote a) the use of technology enhanced learning and b) quality enhancement policies and practices. Provide technical and project management support for TLE projects including ATLEF. Support the organisation and delivery of academic staff development workshops. Contribute, as appropriate, to the wider work of the Teaching and learning Enhancement (TLE) office.
