This is a part-time (0.6 FTE, 21.75 hours per week) and fixed-term role to provide cover for shared parental leave until 17th March 2017, or return of the substantive postholder, whichever date is earlier.

Student & Academic Services (S&AS) works to provide high quality and effective professional services to support potential and current students from their initial enquiry to Edinburgh Napier University through to graduation and beyond.
Within S&AS, Employability & Opportunities is responsible for making a difference to our students’ employment prospects and to their success by working with programme teams to embed employability and mobility opportunities and to support students to develop the professional skills they need to succeed in the workplace.
The careers team are part of Employability & Opportunities which brings together Academic Skills, Careers, Confident Futures, Employer Opportunities and Global Mobility into a single service.
We seek to appoint an experienced careers professional to cover a 6 month maternity post and act as the lead careers link with the School of Arts & Creative Industries and the School of Engineering & the Built Environment. In addition you will support your colleagues in the careers team to support delivery in the other Schools when required.
You will work as part of a team of Careers and Confident Futures professionals and be responsible for the development and delivery of high quality information, advice and guidance to all Edinburgh Napier students and graduates, on employability and career related issues.
You will also work in partnership with colleagues in Employability & Opportunities and across the University to maximise the contribution of employers and alumni to the preparation of students for graduate careers.
Careers education, information, advice and guidance are delivered to individuals and to groups. Your caseloads will be drawn from specified areas of responsibility related to subject area, however there may be a requirement to work with any eligible service user and by various media e.g. through e-guidance or by telephone.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent and with a Post Graduate Diploma in Careers Guidance or similar, you ideally will have experience of working in the delivery of careers education, advice and guidance in a HE context and be able to demonstrate that you can provide effective coordination for the delivery of employability development programmes. To be successful you will need to be an excellent communicator and have a proactive, positive and collaborative approach to working.
