Trig Avionics is a leading provider of General Aviation avionics for communications, navigation and surveillance. We’re offering great opportunities for highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineers to join us at an exciting phase of our growth as we are take on significant new development programs in avionics.

As a Lead Engineer you will be responsible for delivering technical contributions and leadership to develop cutting edge avionics products.

You’ll be an expert in one of our engineering disciplines, familiar with several others, and will have experience of working in an engineering research and development environment. You will be the technical leader of a multidisciplinary project team with hands on responsibility for delivering new products. You’ll have technical ownership of the complete product.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll join a small, friendly team and will demonstrate your ability to work well alongside people with various skill sets. You will have experience working with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure your product makes a smooth transition into production. You’ll have experienced the full product development life cycle from inception to manufacturing.

With strong communication skills, you will be able to lead technical discussions with colleagues and clearly convey complex technical concepts to clients and contractors. You’ll be capable of delivering accurate technical documentation with great attention to detail. You’ll have a confident outlook and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge and experience of certification of products and design for manufacture will be an advantage, as will a knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment interfaces. Whilst avionics experience is an advantage, applications are encouraged from engineers from other sectors with experience of designing and producing small devices such as medical instruments, automotive and the oil and gas sector where relevant skills and experience are transferrable.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Expertise in one of the following disciplines, and familiarity with several others:
    • Hardware design – digital or analogue
    • FPGA
    • RF design
    • Embedded software
    • Verification and test
  • Experience of the whole product life cycle from requirements capture through implementation to validation
  • Experience of working in an engineering research and development environment
  • Experience in leading a small multidisciplinary engineering team
  • High standard of technical documentation
  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline
