Exciting Opportunity with Kelda Water Services Grampian for an electrical Engineer to joint the Engineering team based at our site in Aberdeen.
Starting salary £23,756.00 up to £32,000 depending on experience + pension + quarterly performance related bonus + 25 days annual leave
What will the role involve?
Your role will be to work as part of the Engineering Team, who maintain, repair, install and optimise mechanical and electrical equipment at our sites. You will use your skills to diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant, and complete planned and reactive electrical tasks within timescale, quality and cost parameters.
The ideal candidate will be able to identify ways to improve value and service, and specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of their day to day role.
You will build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and sub-contractors.
Your high drive, energy, determination and accountability will set you apart from other applicants.
This role requires you to also work unsupervised in remote geographic locations, and be able to manage and prioritise own workload and participate in a standby rota.
Adherence to strict Health and Safety standards is mandatory. This also entails conducting your own risk assessments and where required creating appropriate Method Statements to safely carry out maintenance activities.
We currently have two positions available to cover planned and reactive electrical work.
What skills are we looking for?
You will be working with electrical equipment, and it is essential that you a background and qualifications in Electrical Engineering (for example ONC, BTEC or equivalent), and/or a recognised Craft/Technician Apprenticeship.
You must have IEE 17th Edition regulations certification.
The position requires you to diagnose and repair faults with process industry equipment. Sound knowledge of this kit and instrumentation is a must, and good diagnostic and trouble shooting skills are required.
It is desirable, but not essential, that you have previous experience with Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) and software programming. Your ability to produce electrical design drawings is also advantageous.
Our work is in a commercially orientated environment, and previous involvement in the water, wastewater sectors, or industrial asset maintenance sectors is valuable. You will need to clearly demonstrate understanding of the KWS company values and behaviours.
The role requires Confined Space working, and occasional work wearing breathing apparatus. Training will be provided, but previous knowledge is desirable. Working knowledge of ATEX and DSEAR standards is also valued, as is COMPEX training.
You need to be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision, and you must be able to make effective decisions based on risk within agreed guidelines.
As the role requires travel to different sites within the Grampian region, some flexibility is required.
You will have a full, clean EU driving licence and are required to undertake pre-employment checks.
What's in it for you?
Career enhancement and development, colleague well-being and a genuinely positive work experience for all are key priorities. We are continuously evolving and improving our ways of working and you will support us in achieving our vision of 'taking responsibility for the water environment for good'.
