SPT is now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Technical Craftsperson to maintain and repair our signalling and electrical equipment and support the on-going delivery of the Subway maintenance and modernisation engineering activity. This post offers an exciting opportunity to play an important role in the efficient running of one of Glasgow’s iconic assets.
You will have experience as a time served craftsperson in a recognised electrical engineering discipline supported by first-hand experience in a maintenance environment, ideally with main line signalling experience, although not essential. The candidate must have good communication and written skills. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to plan work, operate in a changing environment and react effectively to changing demands. Experience of working in a highly safety critical environment is essential.
The key responsibilities of the role are set out in the role description and include:
- To carry out preventative maintenance and repair on equipment in all areas as directed within areas of competence.
- The main areas of responsibility will be: Signalling, CCTV, fibre optic & data systems, radio systems, telecoms and control systems associated with other plant e.g. High Voltage controls.
- To attend and assist at engineering incidents completing and submitting reports as required.
Contractual hours will be an average of 38 hours a week on a shift cycle. You will be based at Govan, Glasgow.
As part of the recruitment process you will require to successfully pass an aptitude test and medical examination that will include a test for alcohol and drugs.
