To ensure that our network continues to run effectively, we are looking to recruit a Station Manager to join our team in Orkney at Kirkwall Power Station. The primary function of the role is the management of a small team with responsibility for the safe operation and maintenance of the power station in standby and full duty modes.
In the role you will be involved in the routine operation of diesel generators and associated plant and systems. You will continually develop the maintenance systems to comply with current legislation and standards. Part of the role will require you to manage maintenance and operations planning associated with the Distribution Network. Another responsibility will be to maintain fuel stocks and plant spares availability.
On occasion, you may be required to participate in the operation and maintenance of other Embedded Generation stations within the group during planned and unplanned Network outages.
To be successful you will be qualified to HNC/HND level in a relevant field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering; or equivalent experience. Further to academic experience you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in thermal power generation. In addition to this you will need a good working knowledge of lubrication, steam, air/ water cooling, fuel and compressed air systems. Qualified to Senior Authorised Persons (SAP) for plant isolations would be a distinct advantage however training can be provided.
Your technical skills will be complimented with an ability to communicate effectively with colleagues as well as externally with customers and other key stakeholders. You will be able to show a commercial awareness in the decisions that you make, whilst keeping the customer at the heart of everything that we do. It is important that you are IT literate, being comfortable with Microsoft packages as well as other internal and bespoke packages.
