Principal Mixed Signal IC design Engineer required for an Edinburgh based company

Description

Join an exciting new product development team that is being created within the UK Audio Division. Our team will be developing industry leading mixed-signal SOCs for consumer mobile audio markets. This is an opportunity to join and help form a new and rapidly growing design team responsible for the delivery of complex mixed-signal products. 

Position Responsibilities

  • The overall modelling and partitioning approach used for both discrete-time and continuous-time verification of mixed-signal sub-systems and devices
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex mixed-signal circuits and sub-systems with an understanding of both the digital and analog design techniques to make this successful
  • Make a significant contribution to all phases of the project from business and resource planning and market definition through to development and product delivery
  • Responsible for contributing to the growth of the group including the recruitment, mentoring, review and supervision of junior engineers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skill and must possess a Master's or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant professional experience in mixed signal CMOS circuit design
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Master's or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant professional experience in mixed signal CMOS circuit design
  • Discrete-time/digital mixed-signal modelling techniques, including real-number modelling
  • Continuous-time/analog mixed-signal modelling techniques; ability to optimise speed versus accuracy trade-off; experience working with industry standard MS design flow
  • Highly proficient with industry standard design tools and simulation environments
  • An understanding of basic digital verification techniques
  • Scripting and automation of design tasks
  • Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams including marketing and product definition, production test, product engineering, and end customer interface
  • Good interpersonal skills, share technical expertise and knowledge, contribute to design reviews, work effectively to resolve conflicts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • An understanding, appreciation and passion for audio engineering
  • Experience working within UVM based verification environments
  • Strong knowledge of analog integrated circuit design fundamentals on sub-micron CMOS processes, including knowledge of low geometry physical design constraints and issues
  • Experience designing low-power / high-performance analog building blocks with industry standard design tools
  • Lab and silicon validation experience
  • Implementation of complex digital circuits and sub-systems in RTL
  • An understanding of signal processing and analysis techniques, including DSP and/or analog filter design
  • Clock recovery and/or clock generation circuits
