As the Protocol Engineer, you will be working on the development and implementation of novel LiFi protocols spanning across multiple layers of the communication stack. This will include aspects of user & resource management, roaming, QoS, fairness, networking, etc.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include: –

  • Development and implementation of novel secure-by-design protocols and algorithms for the LiFi communication stack
  • Modification (as appropriate) and integration of state-of-the-art algorithms and techniques into the LiFi protocol stack
  • Working with the Lead Software Architect to define & deliver current and future technology roadmaps
  • Working within a cross-functional team to ensure successful verification of the algorithms and integration into products
  • Supporting the standardisation team as needed

Person Specification

Essential

  • Expert level embedded firmware/software/driver development experience on low power platforms (microcontroller, low power CPU, etc.) with or without an OS
  • Expert level knowledge of mobile/digital communications protocol stacks as well as cellular telecommunication and networking (3G/4G/5G) principles
  • Expert level understanding of enterprise networking and wireless controller protocols (e.g., LWAPP/CAPWAP)
  • Good understanding of protocol/network certification levels and procedures
  • Hands-on communications protocol / signal processing algorithm development and implementation experience
  • Knowledge of protocol security and authentication mechanisms and concepts
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience successfully delivering products to the commercial market
  • Proven track record of delivery and commercial success
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable

  • Strong level of documentation experience
  • Knowledge across all major operating platforms
  • Good understanding of digital hardware and architecture (discrete logic, FPGA, ASIC)
  • Solid understanding of cyber security techniques and implementation as part of stack and system architectures
  • Basic hardware design/development experience
  • Experience with using source control and versioning tools (e.g., SVN) on a day-today basis
