The School of Engineering and Computing is one of the leading players in Thin Films, Sensors and Imaging with extensive expertise in research and development and collaborative working relationships with multinational companies.
We are seeking to recruit a talented Applications Engineer to develop electronics hardware and software for a prototype ultrasound probe for the detection of dental disease. This is part of a Scottish Enterprise High Growth Funded project to commercialise research that has taken place in the school. This is an opportunity to work in an exciting and challenging early stage spin-out environment. The job is for 6 months in the first instance, if the project is a success, there is the possibility of extension and movement into the spin-out company.
The successful candidate should possess a doctorate (or equivalent qualification) in physics/engineering/computing or in a related discipline and possess demonstrable experience in electronics and computer programming (C/C++/Python/Linux/Windows/Mac). Experience of medical devices and corresponding regulatory framework is desired.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, good project management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team, collaborating with colleagues and sharing expertise are also essential.
