Atmos Consulting is looking for an experienced environmental consultant to join their growing Planning and EIA Team.  Based in our Edinburgh Office, you will join our vibrant, dynamic and highly respected consultancy to provide environmental planning advice to a range of clients across a variety of industry sectors including renewable energy, residential, industrial and infrastructure development.  The team is also involved in master planning, infrastructure and minerals projects and is enjoying a period of diversification.

The Position:

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly capable EIA practitioner, or environmental planner with extensive experience in environmental consenting, project management, and client management and business development.   Your well-developed management skills will ensure you succeed in leading, motivating and mentoring a dedicated team of consultants.  To ensure your success, you will be supported and mentored by a committed leadership team, together with excellent support functions, including our award winning GIS team, Marketing, Operations and Administration functions

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the ongoing success and development of the Planning and EIA team
  • Contributing to the development of business growth opportunities;
  • Managing the delivery of projects and services in the areas of environmental consenting;
  • Effectively managing client expectations, being proactive and communicating well;
  • Leading bids and tenders;
  • Financial management including leading team budgeting and resourcing;
  • Continually considering risks and  prospects, highlighting opportunities and concerns to the senior leadership team; and
  • Maintaining professional competence through appropriate CPD.
  • There will also be an opportunity to manage and mentor junior staff.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a related subject, experience of project management in a consultancy setting with a solid understanding of development and environmental consenting.  They will bring with them a good working knowledge of legislation together with excellent report writing skills and the ability to forge strong communicative relationships with new and existing clients.

  • Degree qualified in environmental planning or a related science/engineering subject;
  • A solid understanding of development and environmental consenting
  • Sound commercial judgement with an ability to forge strong communicative relationships with new and existing clients.
  • A thorough knowledge of current legislation and policy;
  • Full membership of a relevant professional body such as IEMA or RTPI
  • Experience of client management, together with the ability to maintain revenue streams through a proactive approach to account management;
  • Proven experience of delivering innovative solutions for clients across a range of Sectors;
  • Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of the business development and marketing process
