WIND ANALYST

WHOLESALE – GENERATION DEVELOPMENT

GLASGOW

SALARY 30,500 - 46,000

DEPENDING ON SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

SSE is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK and Ireland. Our core purpose is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way.

Our Generation Development business is responsible for the development and construction of SSE's portfolio of renewable energy projects. We now have over 3,500MW of renewable energy capacity in operation, under construction or with consent for development.

We currently have an opportunity for a Wind Analyst to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering analysis on SSE's operational renewable assets. Your analysis will inform key decisions about the operational, maintenance and financial strategies for asset management. Site visits to operational wind farms to inspect wind monitoring equipment and scope turbine locations may also be part of your responsibilities, and you will be expected to comply with the relevant site rules and SSE's safety culture on each visit.

You will also support the wider Technical Analysis Team by producing Electricity Production Estimates (EPEs), turbines layouts and turbine suitability and review tender returns including suitability reports and permanent met mast specifications, as necessary.

To be successful in your application you will be educated to degree level having achieved a minimum of a 2:1 in engineering or a physical science. You will have a high degree of numerical and computer literacy and will be comfortable with data processing tools, such as Excel and Access. Operational assets are data rich and therefore a strong familiarity with data in a variety of formats would be advantageous. Familiarity with mySQL, Matlab, and vb.net would be particularly beneficial. General awareness of the current UK and ROI energy policies is also beneficial, as is knowledge of wind data analysis and energy yield assessment methodologies.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to ensure you can communicate concepts to a technical and non technical audience and interact with multi disciplined teams. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task to meet demanding priorities are essential.

From time to time you will visit the sites you support so it is essential that you are able to travel and have or are willing to obtain a full driving licence.

We take pride in our work; we employ people who care about quality and who want to feel proud to be part of the SSE family. We believe our people are our most important asset and believe in developing our staff to get the best from them, building up talent from within SSE.

"In our annual engagement survey, our staff voted us as a great place to work"

Closing date for applications is 28th of September
