An opportunity has arisen for an ICT Infrastructure Team Leader to join Strathclyde Fire and Rescue's (SFR) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Team to help deliver the corporate ICT Strategy which aims to establish a clear way forward for SFR's use of technology, ensuring the full potential of emerging and developing technologies is harnessed to improve our services to the public and that corporate priorities and objectives are met, both now and in the future. The Infrastructure Team Leader's role is to manage delivery and efficient operation of the in house infrastructure which supports core organisational functions. This highly technical role is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, optimization and maintenance of servers, operating systems and corporate applications, eg e-mail, anti-virus protection. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring availability and performance of all elements of the ICT infrastructure and for future planning in relation to changing requirements ie capacity management. The postholder will be responsible for development and implementation of policies and processes for the development and maintenance of the infrastructure and will contribute significantly to the development and implementation of the ICT Technical Strategy. The postholder is also responsible for development and implementation of standard desktop/laptop builds and for delivery of desktop support services to end users across the Service. You must have an HND in a relevant ICT related subject, with extensive technical experience in the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, optimization and maintenance of servers and operating systems, extensive experience in managing the delivery of technical support to ICT users in a complex technical environment and experience in managing customer facing and responsive support teams. You should have knowledge of networking infrastructures inc. LAN, WAN, VPN etc. You should also have excellent skills and experience in at least 3 of the following : Configuration and support of server hardware and SAN technologies; Windows Server 2003/2008; MS Exchange 2010; Active Directory Group Policy Design; Citrix Zenapp 5/6; MS SCCM; Virtualisation such as Hyper-V or VMWare; Windows Clustering/NLB; Windows deployment. It would be an advantage if the successful candidate has a Degree in an ICT related subject; MCSE 2003 or MCITP 2008 or ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate. It would also be an advantage if the candidate had experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools eg SCOM; experience of managing within a formal quality environment or experience working within an emergency services environment. Due to the impending restructuring of the Fire Service in Scotland, this post will be temporary until 31st December 2012.
