Forest Enterprise Scotland is an agency of Forestry Commission Scotland charged with managing the public forests of the National Forest Estate. Forest recreation is an important part of what we do, providing walking and bike trails, through to visitor centres and picnic sites.

Our one in-house signs unit produces the majority of our timber signs, furniture and information structures for visitors to forests across Scotland. A small team of three existing craftsmen and one manager work in a well-equipped workshop with computerised CNC machinery.

Purpose of the Job

To produce high quality signs and furniture through a professional and efficient service.

Key Work Areas

Manufacture Signs & Furniture:

Use woodworking machinery and CAD/CAM software to produce signs and furniture to agreed specifications. Arrange timber treatment and other services and carry out stock management. Paint and finish products. Check and pack orders.

Maintain a safe working environment:

Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment. Help manage and develop risk assessments. Conduct safety checks and monthly maintenance on workshop machines and tools.

Manage workflow:

Work with the rest of the team and SU manager to agree priorities and manage an efficient workflow to complete orders. Talk to customers and suppliers as required.
