Due to the introduction of a new optical fibre and copper pre-terminated cable assembly facility, we have created a new role within our Operations Team.  This position will be responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing process including planning standards, layout & process, design, scale-up and process optimisation. They will work to ensure highest levels quality are achieved while maintaining focus on manufacturing efficiencies. The engineer will be expected initiate and implement process improvements to help increase productivity, define & manage any H&S risk and reduce the organisations environmental impact.

Support the design, development and implementation of a world-class production facility to serve large global customers with best-in-class performance

Own the production plan for their area(s) of responsibility by ensuring that the processes and equipment are aligned to meet the plan

Optimise line and cell layout to ensure that workplace organisation levels are defined and maintained

Critically review the manufacturing process and ensure it is optimised for best productivity and efficiency   and that all “critical to quality” aspects are identified and controlled

Develop a strategy for the manufacturing equipment within their area, working with maintenance to ensure it is in optimum operating condition

Identify any upgrades and modifications required to increase productivity and improve quality

Maintain relationships with OEMs to keep abreast of new manufacturing technologies

Support the New Product Development program for the introduction of new solutions

Ensure all manufacturing documentation is kept up to date; utilise data to drive improvements

Engage and work with all support functions to achieve both their required outputs from manufacturing and to implement robust solutions to manufacturing problems

Performs other duties as assigned

This position requires the incumbent to possess excellent design skills, as well as analytical and creative thinkers.  They can operate on their own initiative but also contribute as a team member working with engineers from various disciplines.
