Job Title: Production Engineer

Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Purpose Summary

  • Ensure that the manufacturing process operates as smoothly as possible
  • Plan and co-ordinate manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods
  • Identify and resolve potential problems that could lead to process or equipment failure
  • Working with Manufacturing to support NPI builds through various development phases
  • Assist with the creations of BoMs, build processes & cost evaluations related to NPI.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing and Assembly processes at both component and assembly level
  • Ability to work as part of a team to drive for results and meet overall project goals
  • Providing input on Design for Manufacture, Assembly and both component and assembly level
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to implement change and implement new process and procedures
  • Meet the set KPI's
  • Plan and implement new layouts, work flows and maximise efficiency
  • Maintain and improve on time standards
  • Control post product releases. ECN's and deviations
  • Assist other team member with establishing product costs and ensuring these are met as part of the overall released product and manufacturing process.
  • Have a good understanding of the companies technology, production capabilities, tools and assembly methods
  • Excellent knowledge of materials, parts, product design, quality standards and requirements.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors advantageous
  • Person Specification: essential qualifications, experience and or/technical skills.

  • HND/BSc  in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering  or similar related subject (or other relevant experience and qualification)
  • Minimum of 2 years Production Engineering / NPI experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Excellent manufacturing knowledge
  • The ability to project manage and keep to project timescales
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • The ability to work as a team and on own initiative
  • Excellent knowledge 
  • Must be methodical, responsive, highly organized, have good analytical skills and initiative
