SSE's core purpose is to provide energy in a reliable and sustainable way. The Energy Efficiency team is responsible for the delivery of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO).
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end to end delivery of projects to deliver business improvements, more efficient processes, auditing and IT strategies. Project delivery will be monitored against time, cost and quality of the deliverable.
You will use best practice methodologies to ensure effective control over project delivery and resourcing and will also manage relationships with stakeholders and third parties in relation to the delivery of business led requirements. You will be responsible for a portfolio of projects and business improvements that will help deliver the overall Energy Company Obligation targets for SSE and support the successful growth of Energy Solutions, a business unit within the Retail arm of SSE.
You will work with Energy Solutions Management and Subject Matter Experts to understand the likely impact of policy changes and set up project teams to manage change into the business efficiently and cost effectively.
Key to this role is managing project risks and issues, assessing project criticalities, contingencies and alternative solutions when difficulties arise and reporting on progress to project sponsors and other stakeholders. This will also include soliciting feedback and applying lessons learned.
Typical business led projects include: business and process improvements, IT strategy development and external software delivery, impact analysis and implementation of governance change projects.
You will have previous project management skills including a proven track record of successful project delivery and ideally have had formal training in a recognised project management methodology, for example APM or PRINCE2. You should be familiar with differing system development lifecycles and methodologies and have experience in process mapping and analysis. You will be experienced in managing complex change throughout the delivery of projects and you should have the ability to identify key stakeholders and show sound project governance. You will be comfortable in presenting complex information while portraying excellent communication skills, both oral and written. You should also demonstrate leadership, focus and direction for the project team whilst displaying strong influencing skills and great attention to detail.
Having an understanding of energy efficiency and ECO would be preferable but not necessary. Having the ability to cope with a wide range of challenging deliverables in a demanding environment will be the key to your success. You will also have developed interpersonal skills and have a proactive, innovative approach to problem solving while possessing excellent analytical skills.
