Appointment to University Court (Governing Body)
The University of Glasgow is looking to co-opt an appropriately qualified external member to serve on the University’s Court (the governing body). Professional experience of Higher Education strategic management, ideally within a large organisation, would be particularly welcome for this position.
Glasgow is one of the world's top 100 universities and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of leading UK research universities. It has more than 25,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, an annual turnover of c£600m, including research income of c£200m, and welcomes students from more than 120 countries worldwide, with excellent ratings for student satisfaction. Successful candidates will be contributing to the University’s development at an exciting time, following the publication of the institution’s Strategic Plan for 2015-2020 and as a major reshaping of the enlarged campus begins.
Candidates will need to be able to commit 10-12 days a year, but with the option of a more substantial commitment of time, including the possibility of chairing University committees in the future.
The position is available immediately. It is non-executive and unremunerated, but expenses will be paid, including travel, child/dependent-care and lost earnings. The appointment will be for four years in the first instance. Candidates must not be employees or students of the University of Glasgow. We are particularly keen to receive applications from women, who are currently under-represented within the University governance structure.
Further information, including essential requirements for the individual positions, and information on how to apply, is available from the website via the apply now button.

The deadline for applications (cv and a covering letter) is Friday 4 November 2016
