Virgin Money’s Credit Risk department make sure the business has an effective credit risk management process that takes into account risk appetite and manages the risk profile in line with current and forecast market conditions. They play an ever evolving role within our organisation, helping us to keep our customers safe. We’re looking for a Credit Provisions & Forecasting Specialist who will provide subject matter expertise on monthly impairment movements, and forecast mortgage impairments and pillar I capital requirements under AIRB.
As a Specialist you’ll support the Manager in the maintaining and enhancing impairment methodologies and models by undertaking internal and external data analysis. You will work closely with the IFRS 9 project team in proving expertise to the IFRS 9 methodology and model development and implementation. You will help deliver key risk inputs to strategic and business planning processes - including impairment provision and capital requirement forecasts. We’re looking for an engaging individual who can work collaboratively across the business building relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring that technical concepts are explained to a senior audience in a clear and concise manner. You’ll keep us safe by ensuring that the balance sheet risks are documented and balance sheet provisions are in accordance with current accounting standards.
On a day to day basis you’ll undertake analysis and develop tools to allow us to understand the key drivers of impairment movements. Undertake the production of Credit Risk MI for monthly impairment movements. Proactively identify sensitivities and weaknesses in the impairment model and formalise improvements to Virgin Money’s approach. Make recommendations to governance committees on calibrations and changes to methodology.
For this role we need someone with an understanding of credit risk impairment provisioning and/or forecasting; who has worked in an analytical role before. Ideally you will have at least 4 years’ experience within Financial Services in the field of Retail Credit Risk. You will need to be fully competent in SAS programming, with the ability to interrogate and manipulate large amounts of data, produce well thought out analysis and summaries key messages in a succinct manner. You will have the ability to present analytical results and key insights to a senior audience (ideally Committee or Board reporting). You will have good understanding of the macroeconomic picture and how that may impairment assumptions.
