Quarriers Parklands project is a residential service based in Quarriers village for men with learning disabilities and other complex needs.
We are looking for a volunteer befriender to support a male in his 30's who is blind.
PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:
To support/befriend this male and to build up a good relationship increasing his social circle.
- To visit Parklands and play games such as Dominos and Yatze
- Read aloud
- Have fun
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Basic reading skills
- Easy going
WHERE AND WHEN:
In Parklands - ideally weekly or as often as you can as it would benefit the person supported.
1 year would be ideal as this would allow you to get to know each other and enjoy the befriending.
The minimum age for this role is 25 years old. This is due to the nature of the service.
Volunteer would be expected to make own arrangements to and from the service and would not be supporting the person outwith the house.
Volunteer application form, meeting with staff and person supported, reference and PVG check.
Travel will be reimbursed based on receipts.
