Quarriers Fred Martin Family Placement Service provides support to adults with disabilities and their families.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The volunteer will support Quarriers service user to access social activities and help them improve social skills and help the adult be part of the local community. The person you may befriend has a keen interest in fashion and likes yoga.
To facilitate and enjoy social activities with the adult .
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE:
Experience in learning disabilities not necessary, however it would need to be a female with a mature, responsible approach. You need to be patient and understanding, with a willingness to learn about the person you will be matched with.
WHERE & WHEN:
The person Quarriers supports would need to be collected from their home in the Southside of Glasgow. This could be day or evening, at least once a fortnight; to begin as soon as possible.
A commitment of at least a year would allow you to get good experience and enjoyment of the role.
TRAINING AND SUPPORT PROVIDED:
- Adult Protection
- Quarriers 2 day autism course
- Access to risk assessments
- The adult has a certain area in the city that she would not want to visit
- Person Quarriers supports cannot be left unattended
MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT:
21 years old, (needs to be responsible with a mature approach)
