Childline Glasgow Switchboard VolunteerVacancy posted: Wednesday, 5 October 2016
Closing date: 31 December 2016
Spend your free time doing something worthwhile - be the warm, reassuring voice a child first hears when calling us.
Childline is the UK's free and confidential helpline service for children and young people who need to talk. We provide a confidential phone and online counselling service for any child with any problem.
Our switchboard volunteers are the first person a child will speak to when they call Childline. They calm the young person, reassure them and explain a little about the service, before putting them through to a counsellor.
No previous experience of switchboard or working with children is needed, as full training and support is provided. You will gain worthwhile communication skills and experience of working in a team environment. Volunteering takes place at our Glasgow base at Templeton House, 62 Templeton St, Glasgow G40 1DA.
Applications are submitted online via the NSPCC website. Please be aware that the recruitment process takes quite some time. In order to allow time for interviews, references and PVG checks to be undertaken prior to training, we suggest that you submit an application as soon as possible.
· We offer interview slots on a first come, first served basis, so please submit your application as soon as possible in order to be invited to interview as soon as possible. Training places will be offered on a first come, first served basis so the earlier your interview, the better your chance of getting a training place.
· CVs and/or incomplete applications can’t be accepted
