Eden Scott is delighted to be working with The Hub in Edinburgh, home of the Edinburgh International Festival, to recruit a General Manager.

This historic, Grade A listed building forms an integral part of the architectural fabric of Edinburgh. It was constructed around 1842 as the Victoria Hall to house the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. In 1999, the building was transformed into The Hub, the building is a stunning combination of award winning contemporary design and classic Victorian architecture.

The Hub offers a truly unique and spectacular space for a variety of events, including conferences, banquets, weddings, educational workings and exhibitions. Located on the ground floor of The Hub is Cafe Hub an extensive Cafe suitable for large groups with a terrace which bursts into life in the summer months. Hub Tickets, also located on the ground floor sells tickets for events throughout the country all year round.

This key appointment as General Manager reports into the Managing Director of the Edinburgh International Festival and will maintain and develop its high quality events, catering and café business and ensure that the building is run efficiently and effectively to support this business. In carrying out this role, it is necessary for the General Manager to balance these commercial objectives with the needs and requirements of the parent charity.

This General Manager position will play a pivotal role in managing the business by:

  • Managing and developing The Hub’s events, meetings and catering business in order to optimise revenue,
  • Managing and maintaining an historic listed building and provide building support services to the International Festival within The Hub
  • Working alongside the International Festival team to maximise opportunities for income generation from  bars and catering over the August Festival period and to deliver customer service appropriate to the August festival operation

Key skills and experience required:

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded senior manager, with a proven track record in motivating a team to deliver high quality service standards. Excellent experience in running a banqueting and events business is essential, as is an understanding of sales and marketing. Experience in building management and restaurant and café management would be an advantage.

Excellent salary circa £45,000 - £50,000 dependent on skills and experience is on offer plus various generous company benefits in order to secure the right candidate.
