Assistant Night Manager

Reporting to:

Night Manager

Indirectly reporting to:

Front Office Manager/Duty Manager



In the absence of, or to assist the Night manager to oversee all hotel activities, to achieve total guest satisfaction during the night shift, concentrating on all management and night audit functions, while motivating the night team.

Key accountabilities:

Daily Operations

To follow instruction from the Night Manager, as detailed below and in their absence assume the role of Night Manager.

To comply and to ensure that all staff complies with all statutory company regulation relating to health & safety , hygiene, conduct of employees and all emergency procedures.

To be responsible for the overall security and running of the hotel premises during the night – 21.00 to 09.00 hours unless otherwise notified.

To ensure all of the night team are fully trained to deal with bomb threats and evacuation procedures.

As Fire Controller – to coordinate the fire evacuation when the alarm sounds, ensuring that all guests and staff evacuate safely to the fire assembly point.

To keep a high degree of presence in the hotel reception and function areas that are occupied.

To ensure that all conference setup and tasks are carried out by the night team to company standards with assistance where required

To ensure that all cleaning duties are carried out by the night team to company standards, in the reception, business suite, front grounds, restaurant and function suites.

To be responsible for the exterior upkeep of the building – to ensure that all the areas at the entrance and grounds are kept clean and tidy.

To manage the work of the night shift to produce maximum benefit to the hotel.

To ensure that the night team conform to all company image standards.

To ensure the smooth, efficient and accurate running of the night audit, ensuring that all business has been entered and dealt with correctly and ready to begin a new day at a reasonable hour.

To ensure that all front desk standards are adhered to at all times.

To relieve the Duty Manager of the pager at handover and assume responsibility for the hotel.

To read and completed the pay-in for the restaurant and bars, where required.

To assist in the production and delivery of the room service menu and late night drinks service.

To ensure that all monies and keys are safely secured.

To ensure that the hotel backup tapes are rotated, store and kept in good repair.

To ensure that the hotel has the correct information and requirements for all guests during their time at the hotel.

To ensure that any requests made by guests are followed through.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as deemed appropriate by a supervisor.

To ensure that all works are carried out and completed to the highest standard and a nightly checklist is completed on every shift.
