In this job you will be...

Dealing directly with internal customers, ensuring that our systems run well and are meeting customer needs and expectations. We ensure that any customer questions or problems are resolved successfully and quickly.

While our Modern Apprentices will primarily be working alongside colleagues on the IT Service Desk, they will have the opportunity to learn about all parts of the IT Service team during their apprenticeship. Handle incoming calls to the IT service desk, listen to the customer and find out the issues in order to prioritise them accordingly.

  • Where necessary, direct calls to appropriate team members for resolution
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic queries, aiming to resolve the issues at first contact where possible
  • Ensure excellent customer service is offered at all times
  • Complete an SCQF level 6 ‘IT and Telecoms Professional' Diploma

Your training will...

Start with a 12-14 month IT apprenticeship, which consists of training in small groups and work based assessment covering: Operating systems, Server administration, Customer support, Networking and Security.

You will gain a Diploma for Information Technology & Telecommunications Professionals SCQF Level 6 plus MCP in Windows 7/8 Configuration and Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1.

We will accept certificates dated within the last twelve months. In addition to the checks stated above, we will need to have sight of your educational certificates (not photocopies) to verify that you meet our minimum requirement as stated in the advert and elsewhere in this document. Normally, we ask candidates to bring this documentation with them to interview as, by doing so, they will not have to send it to us by post or visit the office at a later date to show us these certificates

Who should apply...

We are looking for people who can demonstrate a keen interest in IT and desire to learn and develop in this field. Our apprentices will also require excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. In addition, you will need to have a good standard of education, with a minimum of National 5 passes in English and Maths and National 4 qualifications in at least three additional subjects.

What happens when I finish my apprenticeship...

As well as having a ‘core' role in our IT Service Desk team, during your two-year apprenticeship you will have exposure to a range of IT functions and initiatives, allowing you to identify your areas of interest and develop relevant skills as you grow your career. In addition to the on-the-job training and support that will be provided by your line manager and mentor/s, you will work towards nationally-recognised qualifications in IT and these will be delivered by our external training partner, QA Apprenticeships. Upon successful completion of Year 1 Salary rises to £23,715
