An opportunity has arisen for further education students currently studying towards a degree or equivalent qualification in an IT related discipline to gain experience working with Perth and Kinross Council's Information Technology team. Successful candidates will be expected to be flexible in their approach and may be asked to support a number of projects / workstreams including hardware installs, desktop rollouts, VOIP telephony roll out and equipment audits. Applicants will be interested in applying / developing their IT support skills and knowledge and must be highly motivated, good team workers and capable of taking responsibility for challenging workloads.
Hours of work will be by agreement in advance and will be dependant on availability / service resource requirements / skillsets required to successfully take forward various IT projects and workstreams.
This post is a chance to gain work experience in a range of IT functions including first line support, hardware and software installations and ICT asset management.
It is recognised that candidate availability will be limited to University / College holiday periods.
The successful candidate will work effectively on a supply type basis dependant on availability / service resource requirements / skillsets required to successfully take forward various IT projects and workstreams.
â€¢Work within a team assisting in the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of ICT equipment, peripherals and standard software.
â€¢Via an IT Helpdesk, provide first line support to log / prioritise / resolve incoming user queries and faults.
â€¢Assist in the maintenance of the Council's ICT asset register, including carrying out on site audits.
â€¢System data input
â€¢Undertake other duties allocated as and when required.
â€¢Provide written and oral progress reports when requested
