We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, with a strong personality, to join our busy Distribution Department, based in Cove, Aberdeen.
You will be part of a team responsible for the safe, efficient and cost effective distribution of quarry and recycled materials using our extensive fleet of road haulage vehicles. Main duties will include the planning & monitoring of our Bulk Trailer and Powder Tanker operation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with establishing and maintaining systems such that orders are received, processed and actioned ensuring delivery requests and deadlines are met in a cost effective manner.
Assist with providing guidance, support and training to department personnel ensuring all duties and responsibilities are carried out to the required standard.
Assist with ensuring the fleet utilisation is maximised with both internal and external hires and providing monitoring reports to demonstrate it.
Assist with identifying other areas of business for the internal fleet during periods of inactivity.
Ensure the fleet is not utilised in a manner that breaks EU Regulations and Drivers Hours.
Use the vehicle tracking system to ensure the fleet use is maximised.
Liaise with the Fleet and Plant Department with regards to fleet availability ensuring vehicles are made available for inspections, servicing, MOT's etc.
Liaise with the Sales and Estimating Department regards orders and distribution requirements.
Assist with setting, maintaining and providing hourly and tonnage rate charges.
Ensure all delivery tickets are collected and waiting time processed.
Assist with hiring additional external lorries to meet internal and external delivery requests.
Ensure all drivers both internal and external are given the correct delivery instructions and appropriate weighsoft numbers.
Assist with the accurate preparation of all internal charging mechanisms and invoices for internal and external fleet hire ready for processing by the Finance Department.
Ensure all invoices received from external parties are checked as accurate and correct before being handed to department head for approval.
Assist with the regular flow of all other administrative information to HQ and other operational departments.
Assist in monitoring and administering accident damage and insurance procedures for the Leiths Group plant and equipment and offer professional input / advice in any subsequent operator interviews.
Assist with the identification and preparation of Risk Assessments for all distribution activities including low loader operations in accordance with current Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.
Ensure clear lines of communication are maintained with internal and external customers.
Assist with establishing and maintaining a customer satisfaction survey and report feedback
Promote a team working philosophy whilst motivating and supporting the workforce.
Act as an ambassador for the company ensuring visitors, customers and staff is communicated to in a polite and courteous manner.

You will be required to undertake other duties appropriate to your grade as directed.

Industry experience and knowledge of construction materials would be beneficial but not essential. Experience within haulage and/or distribution would be advantageous. The successful candidate will preferably hold a Class 1 HGV licence.
You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative.
