Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service

As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in manufacturing, product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of local patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
Applications are invited for a fixed term post (1 x 9 months) from HCPC registered Healthcare Scientists to join the multidisciplinary team within the Edinburgh SNBTS Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) laboratory. The clinical H&I laboratory is a well equipped, MHRA , CPA and EFI accredited lab providing support for the East of Scotland solid organ transplantation programme and specialist transfusion testing.
Applicants for this post must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have an honours degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent. Applicants must be reliable and enthusiastic, have a flexible approach to work, have good interpersonal skills and be able to work individually and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
