Then this exciting opportunity could be for you. We are seeking a new Principal Educational Psychologist to join our forward looking Educational Psychology Service. Midlothian Council Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is located within the Education, Communities and Economy division, based in our Education service at Fairfield House, Dalkeith, Midlothian. The Education service is the largest service area within the Education, Communities and Economy Directorate which covers a wide range of important responsibility areas, including Lifelong Learning. The Education Service currently supports, for example, over 13,500 children. The work of the Educational Psychology Service embraces all areas of the education service and all work is carried out in partnership with others and those that access the service. The Educational Psychology Service contributes to action plans in relation to learning and teaching, inclusive education, GIRFEC, career long professional learning and self-evaluation in order to make a difference to the lives of children and young people. The PEP is a key member of the Quality Improvement team and within this team the PEP role is to provide strategic leadership of the EPS and has responsibility for leading research and evidenced based approaches to supporting and challenging schools to raise attainment and meet learner needs. The Service works to ensure that evidence is used to inform and innovate practice within the overall framework of the policies for the education authority, with an emphasis on the core principles of equalities, inclusion, partnership and participation. The Service has taken a leading role in a range of innovative approaches including the development of Visible Learning across Midlothian.

With substantial experience of working effectively as an Educational Psychologist, you will bring a demonstrable track record of delivering first class services for children and young people and high quality, evidence based educational psychology.

You will have an Honours degree in Educational Psychology, a Post Graduate Masters degree in Educational Psychology, and hold membership as a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. Management experience within a Local Authority Psychological Service is desirable. Applicants must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £58,518.00 per annum.
