McTear’s is a Glasgow auction house offering a style of service seen in only a handful of houses outside London. Dedicated auctions are held every five weeks in all major categories, including whisky, wine, Scottish pictures, silver, jewellery, watches, coins, Asian works of art, furniture, militaria, ceramics, clocks and Scottish contemporary art.

A full time vacancy has arisen for a Whisky Specialist. The successful applicant will, with the aid of an extensive database of auction results, catalogue and value consignments of whisky, wine and spirits arriving at McTear's in Glasgow daily, as well as visiting clients around the UK and Europe. Also key to the role will be nurturing existing client relationships, sourcing bottles for auction by establishing new relationships with private and trade clients, and participating in internal and external valuation events as required, as well as auction day duties.

Previous auction house experience would be beneficial but all circumstances will be considered. The key skills required for this role are excellent knowledge of and passion for whisky; knowledge of wine and other spirits is beneficial; excellent communication and people skills; interest in the auction market and trends; superior customer service; highly organised and motivated to succeed. UK driving license essential.
