A Modern Apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that leads to an industry approved qualification. The training can be both on and off-the-job, which means Modern Apprentices (MAs) learn the right mix of skills, abilities and knowledge.

A Modern Apprentice Care Assistant will be expected to work within a care team attending to the personal, social, recreational and emotional needs of adults with a range of disabilities within shared or individual living situation.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.


These vacancies are restricted to applicants who currently live in Fife. You must also be aged between 16 and 24 as at the 1st October 2016.

You should have a minimum 3 Standard Grades at general level 3/4, to include English and Maths OR 3 Intermediate 1's, to include Maths and English OR equivalent Core Skills at SCQF level 4 OR 3 National 4s, to include English and Maths.

Previous experience can be considered as equivalent see SCQF Framework

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.


With appropriate supervision and guidance will be expected to undertake a range of physical care tasks e.g. assisting with eating/drinking, continence and dressing, moving and handling of service users. Consult with service users in order to provide a range of social and recreational activities to meet people's individual needs and assist/support individuals to participate in activities. Undertake domestic duties as required.
