You will provide a comprehensive Social Work Addictions Service as part of a multi-disciplinary Persistent Offenders Partnership.
Main duties of the post will include:. providing intensive support and monitoring of individuals who are involved in persistent offending in relation to their addiction issues. To facilitate stability within clients lives and ensure the individuals identified are provided with a range of options to promote recovery and reduce offending and thus community impact.
It is essential that you have previous experience of working in the addictions field with adults with complex issues and have knowledge of substance misuse. In addition you must have good written & verbal communication skills with the abilty to work on your own initiative and as part of a multi- agency partnership.
You must have a flexible approach as evening and weekend work may be required.
A Diploma in Alcohol and Drug studies or equivalent is desirable, as is experience of working with clients known to the criminal justice system.
Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous improvement.This is a temporary post for a 12 month period initially. You can also apply for this post on a secondment basis. This position is covered by The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and has been designated as carrying out regulated work with a child or protected adult under the terms of the Act. Consequently individuals who are named on the Disqualified from Working with Children/Adults Lists will commit an offence if they apply for this post and may face prosecution.
