Roads and Transportation Services consist of a number of specialist areas including: Assets, Strategy and Safety, Lighting, Geotechnical Flooding & Drainage, Roads Design, Structures, Traffic Management and Operations. As part of our team, based at Fleming House, Cumbernauld you will be working with a variety of partners, customers and clients ensuring the delivery of a high quality professional service that maximises the resources available, delivers positive outcomes and meets the needs of customers and service users. Specialising in either Road Works Control or Roads Operations, you will have a flexible approach to your work and be able to develop and use your knowledge and skills to allow you to work in any part of our service. With the appropriate legislative and technical knowledge, you will assist in policy development, respond to service requests from customers and clients, assist in development and delivering asset management plans, programmes of work and projects. You will also be required to deliver day to day tender, procurement and contract administration and check and certify transactions. With significant relevant experience, you will be educated to SVQ Level 3, HNC Level or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject. Equally important, you will be a confident communicator, be customer focused, be IT literate and have good problem solving and analytical skills. You must have experience of tendering, procurement and contracts, processing financial documents and transactions, budget control and also have knowledge of health and safety matters. A good communicator, you should have knowledge of compliance with financial procedures, legislative and technical knowledge of an appropriate area of work and be able to assist in policy development. A self motivated individual, you should be able to work to specific deadlines and directions, whilst working as part of a team. Unless you are a Chartered Member of an appropriate Chartered Institution or organisation, you will be placed on the NLC10 salary grade. Progression to NLC11 will be dependent on you achieving the aforementioned qualification. You must hold a current driver's licence as you will be expected to travel throughout the area of North Lanarkshire Council. Full Time and Part Time hours available, which can be discussed at interview. *New appointments will be paid at NLC10 unless they currently have, or until they achieve, Chartered status when they will be paid the higher grade of NLC11.
